I think Wes, Raider & Adam gave you great advise. I suggest you listen to them they both know computer hardware well. An they would not stear you in any wrong direction.
What is so sad to say the GF8800 Ultra has been out for all most a year now. No other video card can beat it. Its still the same price a year ago. Man I should of purchase that a year ago. -- I'm kicking my self in butt right now-- [doh] I think thats some kind of new record of longest video to stay on top so long? I remember back in the day when S3 & Matrox ruled video cards. Ati & Nvidia was not around back then. Today Nvidia & Ati hold that video card market.
Wes is fan of what's cheaper and faster for your dollar value. He does finds the best deals for great hardware. Raider likes eVGA or BFG Video cards I can't remember, and loves Thermaltake cases cause of air flow/cooling. I likes MSI/Asus Video/Main boards, OCZ RAM, and FSP Group/OCZ Power supplies.
What ever you buy above Kevin? The only good advise I can give you. Is make sure you get a good reliable power supply. That is the most important part of any PC. Just trust me on that!
Good power = Stable PC Poor power = Problems [ohno]
You can have the best/top hardware in the world, and if you run poor power through it you will think its junk.

Those cases are UGLY to me. I am a very picky person and I would never purchase a case that looks anything like that. I don't even like Kevin's case. |

Yeah but you're retarded and your opinion doesn't count... Do I need to point out that you own a Mac?
I like the screwless setup in the ThermalTake cases, I wouldn't call the hard drive system quick release but it's pretty cool how it works. It's a good deal thats why I posted it. I paid $150 for my case without power supply...

I think CoolerMaster makes some of the best constructed cases for the best prices actually, I think they are very underappreciated by the market.
I use CoolerMaster cases for all of my customer builds, I've just found what I like with the ThermalTake line the last few times I've built a new rig for myself.
When I buy for myself I buy something I like that I don't think anyone else will have, I didn't think anyone was going to throw out $150 bucks for a case with no power supply and I love the visable combo drive that is built into the front door of my case. |

Correct me if wrong but the 8800 GT is faster than 8800GTS? http://www.nvidia.com/page/geforce8.html Back in the day the "s" was a step down from the main card GT. That nvidia chart says other wise? -------------------------------------
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130317 $309.99 Memory Size 640MB Core clock 576MHz
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130319 $289.99 Memory Size 512MB Core clock 650MHz
I guess the $309 card does has 128MB more ram than $289. But is it faster than the $289 card?
Below is my pc video gaming card history. I'm waiting for the new cards to blow the 8800 Ultra away before buy new. ================================== 1. S3 VESA 2MB or 4MB can't remember (Windows 3.1) 2. Matrox MGA PCI 8MB (Windows 95a) 3. Diamond Viper TNT 2 Ultra AGP 32MB (Windows 95b & 98) [The best card back in the day!] 4. Aopen GeForce3 TI 500 AGP 128MB (Windows 98) 5. MSI GeForce4 TI 4200 AGP 128MB (Windows 98b) [My favorite back in day was so close to FX5200] 6. MSI GeForce FX5200 AGP 128MB (Windows 98b & XP pro) [Was ok its in kids pc now] 7. MSI GeForce 6800 GT PCI-E 256MB (Windows XP pro) [Great card its in wife pc now] 8. MSI GeForce 7900 GTX PCI-E 512MB (Wwindows XP pro) [Still a great card today] |

The GTS is a better card in the 8800 series. |

The GTS is a faster card, but is it better? No. The 8800GT's are built on the new G92 core, the same core the new 9800 series cards will use. Just google G92 and you'll see the advantages.
Thats the reason the 8800GTS 640mb cards a much cheaper. Old and dated, they were moving stock for the new 8800GTS 512mb G92 cards.
At any rate you can't go wrong with any 8800 series card, best on the market right now. |
